Bahubali movie, the blockbuster even today has added another feather in its kitty. The movie will now be introduced as the case study in the most premium management school- Indian Institute Of Management- Ahmedabad. The student will be doing a case study on how a movie franchise can achieve such a huge success by combining art, business, and technology.
Thre case will be authored by IIM A alumnus and a visiting faculty Bharathan Kandaswamy, the case will be a part of an elective course on movie business that is offered to the student of the second year. He said, ” he will introduce Bahubali movie case study in the new academic year as an elective course”.
Kandaswamy said, “Bahubali movie is a path-breaking Indian cinema that combines art, technology, and business in a brilliant way. Most of the time, films are creative and artistic but are unable to do good business. Sometimes the technology is not used effectively enough. At times the story is good but not executed well and then sometimes we have a mediocre story that gets a good opening due to great marketing, but the movie does not sustain due to the weak story”.
He further added, ” The course covers all aspects of a movie, from the selection of a good script to its post-production. Film financing, how to raise funds, how to deal with movies are covered. There are also sessions on marketing, distribution, and promotion of the film“.
He added, “last year, a chapter was added on how entities like Amazon, Netflix, and Hotstar were causing digital disruption in the film industry”.
The course has produced 3 case studies till now related to the film industry including one on the movie “Roja” and then another on the success of megastar Rajinikanth starrer “Muthu” overseas.
Now the case study on “Bahubali” will definitely help the aspiring filmmakers in one way or the other. What do you guys think?
